Yesterday we went to Valencia to see Las Fallas. Have you ever heard of them? Neither had I! Every year they build amazing wooden structures -- they had to be finished by yesterday, and then on Saturday they burn them all! Each neighborhood makes one, everyone dresses up in traditional clothes to parade around, bands play in the streets, firecrackers go off every five minutes, then all the neighbors play games and make paella over open fires until midnight when they have more fireworks. Every night. All week. This is a big city and there was so much camaraderie in the air!
