Aah, Nursery

I have never been able to decorate a nursery for my baby. When I had babies 1 and 2 we lived at Wymount Terrace. Need I say more? Okay, I will. Cinderblock walls and absolutely no money! Number 3 was born in Japan and settled onto the floor with us. Later, thanks to generous friends she moved to a crib in the room with the other two. Babies 4 and 5 have only lived here in Illinois (technically #4 was born in Utah and we were homeless) in our 3 bedroom house. We now have 4 bedrooms, but still not too roomy for seven people and certainly no neglected space waiting to be filled with pastel baby yumminess. My friend posted pictures of her nursery and I just had to share because I cannot STAND how darling it is. The paint color is the exact color of my bedroom and I am loving it with the green accents.

OH yes. That is a darling nursery. I've only had two kids and they both started out in a packnplay in our only 'spare' (read: storage) room. Andrew is now one and his room is still a storage area. Poor kid. At least he has cute bedding that I made. Alison never even got that.

Maybe if we have another baby and are in a bigger house we can have a cute baby's room. I'm not counting on it. I'm just glad to have a glider that works!

Your baby is a boy. So don't worry, he won't have to cry to his therapist every Tuesday afternoon that his mommy didn't make his nursery beautiful. He will never care. When he grows up, he will even have negative feelings about the word "nursery" because he will associate it with a calling he most fears. So you're doing fine the way your house is now.

None of my kids had nursery's either-we were either too poor or renting or their future room was an office. Beckett's future room is holding stuff that will go in the basement. Just one more thing for me to feel guilty about along with being behind 7 1/2 years on scrapbooking.

Love it!!!!
If it helps you feel any better, we haven't ever been able to decorate a nursery for our five babies either...BYU, grad school, one bedroom house in Japan, 3 bedroom house in Japan, 3 bedroom house in Utah (house sitting for parents on a mission). Even now (4 bedroom house in Nauvoo) if i had the fortune to get pregnant again, it wouldn't work out. PLUS I have never felt well enough/had enough energy during a pregnancy to accomplish something like that.
AND with Brock's attitude some adeptly expressed above, you can see another reason it will never happen :)

Love the post. I did actually have a nursery with Flower. The theme was Paddington Bear. And while it was very cute, and somewhat unique, I wish I would have done something more neutral and attrative like that persons.

Oh well. Now I've got my girls asking for a TWEEN room. Who knew that they even knew the word TWEEN? Ack! By the way, there not getting it anytime soon. The periwinkle walls with the quilted flower comforters will be JUST fine for at least 3 more years.
